Help clinicians who work with betrayed partners understand how to address the PTSD symptoms commonly manifesting after infidelity. The content is based on research from the standardized assessment “Trauma Inventory for Partner’s Sex Addicts (TIPSA).” Researchers have found that up to 70% of betrayed partners manifest PTSD symptoms, this CE course will provide guidance on how to treat each of the PTSD symptoms.
We will use the Trauma Inventory for Partner’s of Sex Addicts (TIPSA) assessment to help the clinicians understand how to measure PTSD symptoms. Then we will discuss additional mental health issues (e.g., depression, anxiety) that often accompany the PTSD symptoms. We will have a discussion on gaslighting and how it influences the PTSD symptoms. We will also discuss research that shows how ACE’s influence PTSD symptoms in betrayed partners. The day will conclude with a discussion and role-play on how to help clients who feel stuck.
