After a successful inaugural year, the Department of Psychiatry, in partnership with the Utah Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health and the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing, is looking forward to hosting the 2nd Annual Addictions Update Conference. Medical, addiction, and behavioral health professionals are invited to attend the conference, which will take place at the Marriott University Park in Salt Lake City, UT.
The conference program focuses on increasing knowledge of substance use disorders and developing effective prevention and intervention programs through science, policy and treatment. Specifically, the 2018 conference program will address contemporary issues of addiction across the lifespan, with a focus on suicide and ethics. Ultimately, the conference hopes to facilitate improved systems, clinical modalities, and client care for individuals, families, and communities.

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES
Increase awareness of and share current knowledge about substance use issues throughout the lifespan
Identify and define relevance of substance abuse issues to peers, family, business, community, and government influences;
Develop strategies to more effectively promote the healthy growth and development of individuals who are dealing with issues of substance use
Provide effective working tools for professionals to properly intervene in said issues
Familiarize participants with current policies, resources and resource needs in an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment
Provide tools for professionals in policy, research and patient care to develop and mobilize prevention and intervention programs in the business, community and/or government sectors
