Benefits of JoiningNetworking: Even if you don't like to hob-nob, getting to know your colleagues is invaluable when working with your clients. The age-old phrase "it's all about who you know" becomes more true when you know exactly to whom you can refer, where you can get some consulting, and how to get the support you need. Information: With all of the counselors out there, we have many who are willing to forward their information and trainings to us so we can post it to our website. Typically within days of getting valuable information, such as laws being passed or policies affecting us as a membership, we get that information out to you. Career Development: If there is a job opening out there, we do our best to get that to you. Just sign in to our LinkedIn account. If you are without the continuing education hours you need for renewing your license, you can look into our education opportunities. Education: We do our best to hold multiple conferences a year to provide continuing education hours to our membership. Members or non-members may register for UMHCA's conferences and series, but members get a discount on both early bird specials and regular price. Often the UMHCA conferences are the only ethics and suicide prevention hours available. Legislative influence: A large part of what we do is advocate for you, our members, to the Senate and House of Representatives. One voice can accomplish much, imagine what a united voice can do to further the cause of the mental health professional? We are the Utah chapter of a much larger body, the American Mental Health Counselors Association and at a national level we have been able to influence our representatives. Emerging Professionals: It is important to train those who are the future of the profession. Questions need answers. Students need resources to team up with us. Find out how you can help our graduate students succeed and become the emerging professionals of our future. | National Unified Dues Program
