Valerie Balog

PhD, LCMHCS-NC

Valerie Balog, PhD, LCMHCS-NC, is a counselor, educator, supervisor, and practicing therapist. She joined Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions as a faculty member in January.

Previously, Dr. Balog was the program director and clinical site supervisor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for 13 years. She was a clinical faculty member at Southern New Hampshire University for seven years.

In addition, Dr. Balog has worked in Charlotte at an agency level and in her own private practice. She has provided individual support to clients and couples since 2010. She also serves as an approved supervisor for clinicians working on postgraduate clinical hours.

Dr. Balog earned a bachelor's degree in social work from PennWest California, a master's degree in community counseling from Winthrop University, and a doctorate in counselor education and supervision from the University of Virginia.

Workshop Objectives

Participants will be able to:

1) Understand Death: Concepts, needs of the client, and other considerations

2) Recognize factors that impact grieving

3) Have resources for client-centered grief support, including assessments
