Dr. Kristin Erskine, EdD, LCMHC, NCC, Assistant Professor in the Counseling Program at RMU, will be presenting a workshop on Electronic Communication That Protects Your Client and Your License. The event will take place on Thursday, September 18, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Dr. Erskine brings over 20 years of experience as a clinical mental health counselor, specializing in substance abuse treatment and trauma. She has also taught counseling in higher education for 15 years, focusing on addictions, ethics, mindfulness and meditation, and spirituality in counseling. In addition to her academic role, she is a national certified counselor, a master addictions counselor, and a substance abuse professional. In her private practice, Dr. Erskine provides substance abuse assessments for commercial truck drivers, pilots, and railroad employees, as well as psychological first aid services for employee assistance programs in Utah.
The workshop has three main objectives. Participants will learn to identify relevant ethical guidelines governing the use of electronic communication for each mental health profession, evaluate the appropriate use of social media in mental health communications, and integrate best and ethical practices for using electronic communication with clients and other professionals.
This workshop is designed for beginning to intermediate-level participants and offers two hours of continuing education credit in ethics. To register, participants should email Ken Roach at ken.roach@rm.edu.
