Learning Objectives

1. Increase knowledge and understanding of generational and intergenerational trauma and its impact on individuals, families, and communities.
2. Explore diagnostic considerations when working with clients who have experienced trauma, including how trauma may present across the lifespan.
3. Identify effective interventions and clinical strategies for working with parents and families affected by trauma.
4. 

Recognize the importance of provider self-care and identify practical ways clinicians can apply self-care practices when working with trauma-impacted populations.


Josefina L. Sierra, MSW, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and private practitioner with over 30 years of experience in the mental health field. She conducts workshops and professional trainings on trauma, intergenerational healing, cultural responsiveness, and family systems. Josefina also serves as an adjunct professor at Azusa Pacific University and California State University, San Bernardino, where she teaches and mentors future social workers. Her work focuses on strengthening providers’ cultural awareness and clinical skills when working with diverse communities.
