Bleached: Beyond WhiteWashed Trans Narratives
Social/political discourses, literature, and even clinical considerations regarding trans and gender diverse communities are often Whitewashed into mononarratives of the trans experience. Using theoretical and empirical research, this session will briefly examine the monocultural trans narrative, discuss the socialculturalhistoricalpolitical intersectionality of gender and racial identities, and consider implications for clinical practice with trans and gender diverse clients of color.

Most regular Guild meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month, unless otherwise specified in the schedule– please check the listings and descriptions for changes in dates, times, and location for some of the meetings. Typical agenda for our inservice meetings:

8:00 – 8:15 a.m. Refreshments & Networking 8:15 – 9:45 a.m. InService Program

Please note that we have move our meeting location: Meetings are conducted at the Salt Lake County Division of Youth Services, 177 West Price Ave. (3610 S, just off West Temple), Salt Lake City, Utah 84115 unless otherwise specified in the schedule. Parking is permitted anywhere in the parking lot. Enter the building through the main entrance, which is by the flag pole in the circular driveway. From there, there will be a receptionist or signage to point you in the right direction. This location is accessible for anyone with limitations of physical mobility.

CEU’s have been approved for all inservice programs by Utah NASW and are free for Guild members & $5 for nonmembers

Most inservice meetings are video taped and posted on the Guild website for memberonly access. CEU’s are available for online viewing of inservice sessions.
