2019 Annual
UMHCA Conference

Our 2019 Annual Conference is already in the works! We will have both suicide training and ethics workshops available. Register soon to get the Early Bird pricing! We are offering up to 10 continuing education hours!

Early Bird Registration

Register now to receive a great discount. Up to 45 days prior to our conference, the entrance fee will increase.


March 15-16, 2019, Registration begins at 8:30 on Friday.


We will hold this years conference at the University of Utah on the first floor of the library. We have the auditorium and several classrooms to meet our conference needs.


Parking information will be posted here as it becomes available.


  • Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Gray Otis, past presidents both of AMHCA and UMHCA.
  • Anna Leiber, CMHC will give a presentation on suicide prevention
  • Janine Wanlass, PhD will present on Ethical issues related to boundaries
  • Steve Morris, PhD and colleagues will talk to us about understanding the child in the adult
  • Emily Thomas, LMFT and Amy Miner, CMHC will discuss school shootings
  • Our own Ellen Behrens, PhD will lead a discussion on suicide prevention and intervention
  • Jason King, PhD will talk to us about ethical decision making and self-care
  • Nancy Pratt, CMHC has agreed to teach us about intergenerational trauma and attachment across cultures 
  • A panel from the University of Phoenix faculty, including Kristal James, Sabine Weil, Ken Roach, Verl Pope, and Kevin Knutson will lead a discussion on ethics
  • Our own Scott Carter, CMHC will talk about Teens and Parents
  • Ben Erwin, LMFT and Stacy Gibbons will give a presentation on systems theory
  • ...And several more!
As we near the conference, a more thorough agenda will be posted showing our break-out sessions!
