EJ Hackett, MS, EdS, CMHC started her eating disorder career in research as a research assistant for Dr. Michael Lowe at Drexel University in 2005. Projects included studying restraint scale, drive for thinness, outcome data for the Renfrew Center of Philadelphia, and perceptual influence of the 'freshman 15.' It was because of this research background that EJ was later entrusted to develop her first disordered eating curriculum as a graduate level intern at a primarily substance abuse 3/4 residence program. Upon completing graduate school, she began work as a therapist in Atlanta, GA at the Ridgeview Institute Women's unit, which specialized in eating disorder and relational trauma oriented care. EJ shortly became the lead eating disorder therapist there, serving women at the inpatient, PHP, & IOP levels of care. In 2015 she transitioned into a leadership role as the Program Director of Atlanta Center for Eating Disorders, also known as ACE. While at ACE, EJ continued her clinical work as well as began formal clinical supervision or interns & clinicians and, of course, clinical operations, group curriculum, & administrative tasks. She has been involved in IAEDP since 2014 when the Atlanta chapter was newly established. There she served as a chapter board member and Executive chapter board member. In early 2019, EJ moved to Utah with her now 2 year old daughter in order to live closer to her immediate family. She currently works as an outpatient therapist at Tanner Clinic's expanding mental health department in Layton, Utah. While she has broadened her practice to try to meet the clinical needs of those struggling with eating disorders the area, she most enjoys working with adults struggling with an eating disorder and relational trauma history. In her free time, EJ enjoys exploring nature with her daughter, reading, & horseback riding.
