Participants will be able to recognize and identify the various emotional, physical, and psychic tolls that engaging with problematic counseling student issues has on them.Learning

Participants will understand the numerous roadblocks, challenges, and pressures coming from personal, interpersonal, professional, and institutional sources that work to prevent efforts to effectively address problematic counseling student issues.

Participants will be able to identify specific strategies on how to effectively manage the personal impacts when engaging with students displaying problems of professional competence

Dr. Kevin Knutson is a full-time Assistant Professor of Counseling at RMO.He has been a licensed mental health counselor for over 27 years. As a counselor, he has worked in public schools. adult and youth residential facilities, online counseling, wilderness programs, private practice, and mental health facilities. His areas of expertise include sexual abuse, domestic violence, substance abuse, parenting, and leadership. He has presented at many local, state, and national professional conferences. He has taught many master s-level mental health courses for the past 20 years. Prior to his work in counseling and academia, Kevin served a tour or duty in Germany as an officer in the US Army and then as a bank branch manager.
