Exams

Getting ready to take the counseling exams can be stressful. You can practice here. Please keep in mind that these practice tests are the responsibility of their respective creators and UMHCA assumes no liability in the question accuracy. The questions are not verbatim from the exams and should not be considered to be on the exams. These are provided as practice tools only.  These are listed in the order you will most likely take them.


CPCE

The Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination is offered by the Center for Credentialing and Education. It is typically taken near the end of your education to the beginning of your career in counseling as a ACMHC.


NCE

The National Counselor Exam is required by some colleges and universities as a knowledge-based exam to assess your skills and abilities before graduation. This is required by Utah law to pass before becoming fully licensed as an LCMHC. Go to the NBCC website to learn more.


NCMHCE

The National Clinical Mental Health Counselor Exam is offered by the Center for Credentialing and Education as a competency-based assessment of your skills as a counselor. This is required by Utah law to pass before becoming fully licensed as an LCMHC.
