UMHCA is now accepting presentation proposals for our Spring 2026 Conference! We’re looking for practical, engaging sessions that support mental health counselors in Utah. Share what’s working in your practice, program, or classroom. We encourage proposals from clinicians, educators, supervisors, students, and other voices serving diverse communities across the state. New presenters and interactive formats are especially encouraged. Join us in shaping an inspiring conference.
Presentations should focus on one of the following content areas:
Mental Health Therapy – Practices and/or Innovations (General): Highlights core approaches to general mental health therapy and service delivery, focusing on evidence-based practices, client-centered care, ethical and culturally responsive treatment, and improving access to effective mental health services across diverse settings and populations.
Supervision and Mentoring: Focuses on best practices in clinical supervision and professional mentoring, highlighting strategies that support counselor development, ethical practice, and growth across all stages of a mental health counseling career.
Multicultural and Inclusive Approaches to Mental Health Service Delivery: Highlights culturally responsive and inclusive practices in mental health counseling, focusing on understanding diverse identities, addressing systemic barriers, and delivering equitable and effective mental health services to diverse populations.
Ethical Decision Making & Mental Health Service Delivery (Ethics): Explores ethical principles and decision-making processes in mental health counseling, with an emphasis on navigating complex clinical situations, maintaining professional standards, and promoting responsible and ethical practice.
Suicide (e.g., Assessment, Prevention, Dealing with Personal and/or Client Emotions after Suicide): Focuses on evidence-informed suicide prevention, assessment, and intervention, with an emphasis on ethical decision-making, risk management, and responsible clinical practice in complex and high-stakes situations.
Psychopharmacology, Medication Management, and Other Treatment Options: Focuses on psychopharmacology and medication-based treatment options relevant to mental health counselors, exploring common psychiatric medications, collaborative care with prescribers, treatment planning, client education, and ethical considerations to support informed, integrated mental health care.
Rehabilitation & Chronic Illness/Disability: Highlights counseling approaches that support individuals with disabilities and chronic health conditions, emphasizing rehabilitation, accessibility, advocacy, and strengths-based practices that promote independence and quality of life.
