Part 1: May 3-5, 2019

Part 1 Training Objectives: EMDR Foundations

After attending the training, participants will be able to:

  • List EMDR’s 8 phase and 3 prongs
  • Discuss the AIP approach to psychotherapy
  • Apply extended resourcing interventions
  • Construct a belief focused targeting plan
  • Describe the application of The Processing ContinuumTM

Part 2: June 7-9, 2019

Part 2 Training Objectives: Expanding EMDR Skills

After attending the training, participants will be able to:

  • List 5 EMDR specific targeting plan approaches
  • Develop resourcing skills to assist EMDR processing
  • Demonstrate EMDR’s unrestricted processing
  • Discuss the use of clinical interventions during processing
  • Compare and contrast EMDR standard protocols and procedures with the integrative approach

Participants must complete the entire EMDR training course and 10 hours of group consultation within 24 months (2 years) from their initial start date. Please consider this deadline when registering for the training.

Trainer: Laurie Colson-Young, LMFT, LPCC

Laurie Colson-Young is a California-licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC) with an expertise in trauma and EMDR treatment. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Northern Michigan University and a Master’s degree in Psychology from Chapman University.

Laurie is an EMDRIA (EMDR International Association) EMDR Certified Therapist and Approved Consultant and a member of CAMFT (California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists). She has provided counseling services to individuals, couples, children, and families in the counties of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo since 1999. She has worked within the educational system to provide school based services to children with significant emotional/mental health concerns. Additionally, she provided benefits counseling to recipients of many types of disability benefits as well as working in conjunction with the Department of Rehabilitation. She has been in private practice for over 12 years, providing treatment for clients with anxiety, depression, PTSD, physical/sexual trauma, domestic violence, chronic pain, parenting, grief, and relationship issues, among others.

Currently, Laurie’s passion is treating clients by using EMDR in combination with other therapy modalities, conducting EMDR consultation groups and providing training for mental health clinicians interested in learning EMDR. She believes in the integration of the entire self-mind, body, physical, emotional, and spiritual-for both the clients and therapists, and utilizes each of these elements to assist in healing.
