A Synchronous Online Professional Development Workshop

Upon completion of the workshop, participants will:

• Better appreciate the existential underpinnings of poetry therapy and the theoretical foundations of its use.

• Have an experience with poetry to stimulate creative, therapeutic imaginations, and to develop possible directions in clinical practice.

• Be able to To strengthen and develop participants’ therapeutic voice, instill confidence in poetry as an intervention and to inspire its use.

Dr. Matt Buckley is a doctoral-level Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Mississippi, and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in Utah. He received his master’s and doctoral degrees in community counseling and counselor education and supervision from Idaho State University. He has been a practicing counselor since 1993 in Idaho, Mississippi, and Utah, and specializes in marriage and family, child and adolescent, and group counseling. He holds national certifications as a Certified Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor, and a Board Certified Telemental Health Counselor. He recently joined Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions as a professor of counseling. Dr. Buckley is also a board approved clinical supervisor in Mississippi where he acts as a clinical supervisor for other professional counselors and counselors-in-training who seek licensure; the diversity of his professional practice includes counseling, consultation, supervision and teaching.

Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider.

Each Participant will receive 2 hours of continuing education credit.
