Social Media Safety: Key Considerations for Professionals Supporting Clients and Consumers Across the Lifespan

With the advent of social media new realities have surfaced. There is a dire need to support continued attention and education to ensure positive mental health outcomes and well-being for those engaging in social media use. For children, adolescents, and even adult populations key considerations should be taken to ensure that safety measures are taken to prevent online predation, exploitation, harassment, and cyberbullying. This webinar will discuss the prevalence, predictors, and cautions of adverse social media experiences among vulnerable populations. A special focus will be placed on children, adolescents, older adults, and populations with lifelong disabilities. Information and strategies concerning safety will be discussed with a special focus on how to work with consumers and their families to promote safe outcomes when engaging in social media use.
